For over 30 years, Mr. Gary Adams has worked in airport planning,
development and construction. In 2005, he founded The Adams
Companies, L.L.C. Mr. Adams serves as the President of The
Adams Companies (TAC).
In addition to Mr. Adams, Mr. Richard (Dick) Spaeth and Mr.
Ascension (Sonny) Najera have joined the organization as
associates. Both are former State Aviation Directors with extensive
experience in aviation administration, financing and planning.
Mr. Gary Adams
Prior to forming his own company, Mr. Adams served as the
Assistant Aviation Director for an international engineering firm
directing and overseeing their western U.S. aviation market and
clients. Mr. Adams assisted clients in meeting their needs to
facilitate operation, development, and expansion. During the
course of his career, Mr. Adams has served as the program or
project manager for over 100 planning assignments. His
experience covers a wide range of transportation planning and
environmental processes. He maintains a strong emphasis on
federal and state aviation issues at airports of varying size and
function. With his core base of experience in the public sector, Mr.
Adams also possesses an in-depth understanding of the airport
Mr. Adams spent over 25 years with the Arizona Department of
Transportation (ADOT). During his last 16 years, he was the
Director of the Aeronautics Division and was responsible for an
annual statewide airport capital improvement program of over $120
million. This position included responsibility for recommending
and setting statewide aviation policies and strategic planning.
In addition, he was responsible for all aspects of the operation,
management and development of the state-owned Grand Canyon
National Park Airport. This medium hub airport is the third busiest
air carrier facility in Arizona, located in a remote yet scenic tourist
destination. Mr. Adams has been deeply involved in environmental,
development and construction issues related to the airport and
commercial tour operators.
Mr. Adams has a reputation for innovative problem solving. His
focus is to help airports achieve their goals and provide first-class
aviation facilities to their customers. As the State Aviation Director,
Mr. Adams provided planning, environmental, financial and
construction services for numerous commercial, reliever, and
general aviation airports. Most recently he implemented a unique
statewide pavement preservation program, and initiated a rural
airport air service program, a department strategic plan, and a
statewide aviation economic impact study.
Mr. Adams has worked in the political and public arena throughout
his career. Mr. Adams has appeared in court as an expert witness,
testified before state legislative committees, presented reports and
papers to boards and commissions, spoken to aviation and civic
groups and been interviewed by the press and media.
